Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Arthur Hampton (Douglas MacLean) is a doctor without any patients; his friends Johnny Stokes (Victor Potel) and Stubs Masters (Neal Burns) aren't doing any better. After pawning their landlady's parrot for $3.90, they begin to run out of schemes. But Hampton comes up with a doozy -- he will tell his rich uncle that he has gotten married to a girl named Mary Jane Smith. Then Uncle will send them all sorts of pawnable wedding gifts. The plan works, but uncle comes to town and wants to meet the bride. Coincidentally, a real Mary Jane Smith (Doris May) sprains her ankle outside Hampton's office and seeks his care. The uncle books the "happy couple" a stateroom on a ship bound for Honolulu. Luckily, the couple really are happy -- they've fallen in love, and once they are past the three-mile limit, they are wed by the captain. This MacLean/May vehicle was based on the stage farce by May Tully.
