Synopsis
A two-part biography of the German theologian (1483-1546) who started the Protestant Reformation concludes as Luther continues to develop his ideas about individual belief---ideas that spread quickly thanks to the recently invented printing press. Called to recant at the Diet of Worms in 1521, Luther is defiant. "I do not accept the authority of popes or councils," he exclaims. "My conscience is captive only to the word of God." Timothy West portrays Luther in re-creations; Liam Neeson narrates.
