Al (Ed O'Neill) puts aside his patriarchal responsibilities--such as they are--to fulfill his lifelong dream, previously elucidated in the Season One episode "Whose Room Is It Anyway?". Simply put, Al constructs his own personal "executive washroom" in the Bundy garage, complete with a magnificent Ferguson toilet--an appliance beautiful enough to kiss, which Al does! This episode was originally titled "The Impossible Dream", a tipoff to its ironic coda.
