This film from producer/director Hugo Ballin was based on a story by stenographer Nell Marie Dace, which won a Chicago newspaper contest. Why it won is a mystery, since it made a rather unoriginal domestic drama. When Robert Cluer (Percy Marmont) marries Dorothy, a country girl (Mabel Ballin -- for those who can't guess, she's the director's wife), he encourages her extravagance. Unfortunately, Dorothy adapts to her more sophisticated life a little too well and the couple start to argue about it. Then Dorothy has an affair with a certain Lord Cranston (Ernest Hilliard) and it looks like divorce is on the horizon. Robert goes to the country and Dorothy is on the verge of running off with Cranston. But when she shoots an intruder and discovers it's a little boy (Bobby Clarke), it awakens her very latent maternal instincts. She takes the boy from his sordid life and adopts him. Robert, realizing that his wife has finally changed her ways, reconciles with her.
