In this leisurely drama, a woman filmmaker attempts to recreate her relationship with her estranged mother, who on her deathbed in Morocco. Her mother says she has seen her daughter's films many times, but doesn't understand them. She also wants to live another year so as to straighten out the mess that she perceives her daughters life to be. The daughter, in turn, is shocked to discover that, after the death of her father, her mother had a tumultuous affair with a much, much younger man.
