Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Bengali filmmaker Sailajananda Mukherjee follows up on his 1943 hit Shahar Theke Dooray with this family melodrama centering on rural innocent Debnath, who is utterly devoted to his oafish stepbrother Bhoothnath. Debnath's wife wants Bhoothnath to marry her sister, while Debnath manages to line his stepbrother up with a job at the local landlord. Unfortunately, Bhoothnath soon becomes embroiled in an embezzlement scandal and is jailed. Problems continue to mount until the film's happy end, which reunites the family.
