Synopsis
In pre-World War I East Africa, the richest man in the German settlement of Neu Posen is August Bolte (Jean Hersholt), a bullying, cowardly planter known to the natives as Mamba, the name of a deadly snake. Bolte abuses the natives, demands a friend's daughter as his wife in exchange for a desperately needed loan, and stirs up trouble between the local German and British population as rumors of war approach.
