Synopsis by Alice Day

The aggressive nature of mankind is addressed in Making of Mankind: Survival of the Species, as paleoanthropologist, author, and host Richard Leakey examines the origins of this trait. In tracing the beginnings of man, he wonders if this evolved naturally from species of apes that were known for their abilities to kill. As humans have developed into the dominant species on Earth, Leakey talks about the role aggression has played in the success of mankind. On the negative side, aggressive behavior can also prove to be harmful over time.
