Synopsis by Mark Deming

Ann Krsul and Leslie Sullivan are a fourtysomething same-gender couple living outside New York City who have been together for years and plan to stay together for the rest of their lives. Like many couples who have made a long-term commitment, Ann and Leslie have decided they would like to raise a child together, and their path to motherhood is charted in the documentary Making Grace. Director Catherine Gund follows Ann and Leslie as they decide to have a child, make the choice to use an anonymous sperm donor, and Ann carries the child to term, with the dozens of decisions and responsibilities along the way captured on tape. Making Grace was screened as part of the 2004 San Francisco Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.
