Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Based on Troma President Lloyd Kaufman's 2003 book Make Your Own Damn Movie, this comprehensive lesson in producing movies outside of the mainstream studio system gives filmmakers all the tools needed to see their film through from first draft to final cut. Sometimes hilarious but always enlightening, Make Your Own Damn Movie! is a full production course that draws on Kaufman's real-life experiences as a director and producer to show how anyone can make a movie if they only put their mind to it. You don't need to be a Hollywood player in order to get a movie made, and by following Kaufman's advice on financing, production, special effects, making the most out of a limited budget, marketing, distribution, and getting your film into festivals, you'll have your movie showing on the big screen in no time. Additional advice from George A. Romero, Hershell Gordon Lewis, Stan Lee, Eli Roth, William Lustig, John Badham, and John G. Avildsen serve to inform and inspire, while a special deconstruction workshop edition of Kaufman's 1971 film The Battle of Love's Return shows aspiring filmmakers how to approach their craft with a more critical eye.
