Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

In the early 1990s Bernard Haitinik gained critical acclaim for conducting a Mahler cycle with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and for classical music fans who may have missed the opportunity to witness one of those now-legendary performances live, this release of Mahler's "Symphony No. 3 in D Minor" captured live at the Philharmonie, Berlin in December of 1991 finally offers a chance to find out just why Haitinik is held in such high regard for his work. Contralto Florence Quivar lends her rich vocals to the proceedings, and Barrie Gavin directs for television.
