Artist Neil Frazer (Franklin Ritchie) marries stage actress Emily Alden (Charlotte Greenwood) and insists that she retire from the stage. Meanwhile, his sister Wanda (Eugenie Forde) has married a stockbroker, Howard, who asks to borrow $5,000. Frazer gives him funds from the treasury of a club where he's a member, but Howard loses the whole sum in speculative investments and kills himself. Wanda comes to live with her brother and sister-in-law, and Frazer becomes sick with worry over the lost money. To earn back the $5,000, Emily secretly returns to the stage. At the same time, Wanda begins an affair, and circumstances lead Frazer to believe it is his wife who has a lover. He throws her out of the house, but later on, he discovers the truth about his sister. The couple are reunited, and the money is paid back.
