Johnny To Kei-fung directs this cop drama by way of Harrison Ford vehicle Regarding Henry about Lau (Lau Ching-wan), an ace cop but a thuggish, abusive husband to his long-suffering wife (Carman Lee Yeuk-tung). One day, she announces that not only is she leaving him, but that she is also pregnant with another man's child. Lau promptly drowns his misery in liquor and subsequently walks into an ambush laid by a vengeful drug dealer. Though Lau gets shot in the head, he manages to bring his assailants to justice. The wound leaves Lau with only slight brain damage -- his sense of smell and taste are gone -- but complications from surgery leaves his prone to dizzy spells. As his wife moralizes on whether or not to dump her debilitated louse of a husband, Lau learns that his would-be killer has escaped from jail.
