Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The Love Hermit was an inexpensive reworking of a 1915 Francis X. Bushman vehicle. Jilted by the girl of his dreams, the hero (not played by Bushman) turns misogynist and heads to the hills, where he lives a hermit-like existence. Somehow or other, he becomes a millionaire during his self-imposed exile, whereupon his ex-sweetheart, who'd dumped him because of his lack of money, returns to beg forgiveness. But this time, it is the man who plays "hard to get" -- at least until he is thoroughly satisfied that the girl loves him for himself rather than his bank account. Curiously, none of the actors in The Love Hermit was given screen billing, nor was a printed program provided for the audience. It has since been determined that the cast included William Russell -- who probably also directed -- and Charlotte Burton.
