Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man trying to improve his lot in life runs into one obstacle after another in this drama from director Aron Matyassy. Ivan (Jozsef Kadas) is a guy in his early 20s who lives in a small town near the Hungarian border. Ivan earns his living fixing cars and makes some extra cash on the side by selling diesel fuel to Ukrainians on the other side of the border, but he wants more out of life. Ivan's dream is to open a filling station someday, but raising the money is a slow uphill climb. Ivan shares his modest home with his sister Eszter (Terez Vass), who is living with autism; when Eszter is raped by a band of thugs while taking a walk in the woods, Ivan is bitterly angry but isn't sure what he can do, especially when the police display little interest in finding the culprits. Just when Ivan is convinced his life has hit bottom, his girlfriend Ilus (Eszter Foldes) leaves him to go back to school, and a local crime boss tells him that he'll abandon his plans of opening a gas station if he values his safety. Utolso Idolk (aka Lost Times) was an official selection at the 2009 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
