Harry Aleo is a San Francisco real estate man with a passion for horse racing. Aleo had dabbled in owning racehorses for several years with little success when in 2004 he bought a stallion called Lost In The Fog for just $10,000. That turned out to be a bargain; Aleo partnered with trainer Gary Gilchrist to get the horse ready for racing, and soon Lost In The Fog was proving to be a consistent winner, earning a reputation as one of the best racing stallions to ever come out of the San Francisco area. Lost In The Fog had won ten races in a row and made a strong showing in the prestigious Breeders' Cup when racing experts began talking about him as a possible Kentucky Derby winner and maybe even taking the Triple Crown. However, Aleo and Gilchrist knew enough about thoroughbred racing to know that overworking a horse in the short term can ruin its long term health, and the men were forced to decide just how far they should try to push their golden opportunity with this one-of-a-kind animal. As it turned out, the horse's health became an issue in a way that no one had ever anticipated. Filmmaker John Corey offers a behind-the-scenes look at the world of horse racing as well as the remarkable career of one particular steed in the documentary Lost In The Fog, which was screened as an official selection at the 2008 CineVegas Film Festival.
