Chapter three of Lost City of the Jungle reveals that both Rod (Russell Hayden) and Tal Shan (Keye Luke) survived the explosion in the Pool of Light by diving to the bottom of the lake. The blast, however, exposed a hitherto unknown temple whose altar may provide the whereabouts of both the Lost City and the mysterious Glowing Goddess, which evil Sir Eric (Lionel Atwill) believes to contain meteorium, the only defense again the atomic bomb. The local ruler, Indra (Helen Bennett), meanwhile, feigns anger at the destruction of the Pool of Light and condemns Rod and Tal to the Pendrang temple, which Sir Eric plans to blow up. Rod and Tal walk right into the trap, discovering too late that the walkie-talkie they are carrying is emitting wavelengths so strong that they cause an earthquake.
