Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Desmond experiences a vision that propels him into the jungle as he recalls his first encounter with Penny Widmore. Jolted awake after a disturbing prophetic dream in which Charlie is killed and a mysterious helmeted figure falls out of the night sky, Desmond demands that Hurley take him to the place where the cable is buried in the sand. Later, as Desmond attempts to recruit Jin and Charlie for the mission, his memory drifts back to the time when he was living in a monastery. But getting Charlie to follow along on the trek isn't easy, and only after Desmond lies about his vision does Charlie agree to join the excursion. When the group finds the cable Desmond realizes that his vision is becoming a reality. Meanwhile, as Desmond recalls the time he abandoned his bride at the alter, Kate and Jack experience an awkward reunion. Upon hearing what he believes to be a helicopter crashing into the ocean, Desmond, Hurley, and Charlie race into the jungle in search of the beacon that fell from the sky in his vision. While the trio does find a bag containing a complicated satellite radio-phone, the device doesn't seem to work. But also nearby is a picture of Desmond and Penny, which leads the clairvoyant islander to believe his rescue is finally imminent. When the group wanders into the clearing where Desmond had seen Charlie get killed, Desmond can't help but save Charlie's life - a decision that will no doubt change the outcome of everything. Just a few feet away, Jin screams out; he has discovered a parachutist dangling from the trees. While it isn't Penny, the badly injured woman stuns all three when she suddenly calls out to Desmond by name.
