Synopsis by Hal Erickson
After enjoying an economic boom in the mid-1970s, the city of Santiago, Chile, endured a long period of financial insecurity. The Chilean-French Los Hijos de la Guerra Fria explores the impact of Santiago's recession on a single family. Newly appointed business executive Eugenio Morales discovers that his supposedly solvent liquor firm is on the verge of bankruptcy. This news has a debilitating trickle-down effect on Morales' sensitive wife. The film's title translates literally (and symbolically) to Children of the Cold War.
