Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The colorful cartoon series Los Fruittis was another jewel in the crown for the Barcelona-based animation factory D'Ocon Films. The title characters were a bunch of talking fruits (bananas, apples, etc.) who lived in a volcano. In the original Spanish version, the characters spoke in amusingly "regional" accents (the Pineapple, for example, has a pronounced Andalusian accent). This device was carried over a British-language version, which boasted the voice-over services of several top-notch film and stage actors. Debuting in 1989, Los Fruittis produced a harvest of over a dozen 15-minute episodes.
