As mounted for the 2009 Munich Festival, Richard Jones's revisionist production of Richard Wagner's 1850 three-act romantic opera Lohengrin made headlines for its radically modernized vision, and also for its lead performance by heldentenor Jonas Kaufmann as the title character. That entire production appears in this release. It co-stars Anja Harteros as Elsa], {4Wolfgang Koch as Friedrich von Telramund, Michaela Schuster as Ortrud and Christof Fischesser as Heinrich. The Bayerisches Staatsorchester provides symphonic accompaniment under the baton of maestro Kent Nagano; Ultz designed the sets and costumes.
