Synopsis by Sally Barber

Internationally known naturalist and broadcaster of wildlife programs David Attenborough leads viewers on a 12-part expedition to the world's major habitats, showing how plants and animals have adapted to their unique surroundings. These entertaining and inspirational programs reveal places and sounds never before captured by cameras. Volume eight, The Sky Above -- Communities of the Sky, takes viewers to the big blue where the atmosphere is constantly moving and creating the world's weather. In this whirling habitat, creatures must overcome the forces of gravity to survive. Attenborough demonstrates the powerful influence of gravity by becoming weightless. Other episodes in this series include: Baking Deserts, The Frozen World, Jungle, The Margins of Land, New Worlds, The Northern Forests, The Open Oceans, Seas of Grass, Sweet Fresh Water, The Building of Earth, and Worlds Apart.
