Synopsis by Clare Perez-Izaguirre Lopez
This documentary focuses on the historic Mister Kelly’s, a nightclub in Chicago that launched the careers of stars like Bette Midler, Richard Pryor, Barbra Streisand, and Steve Martin. Owners Oscar and George Marienthal enjoyed wild success with the club which opened in 1953 until 1975, welcoming all races, genders, and orientations through its doors. The son of George Marienthal teams up with director and screenwriter Ted Bogosian to gather the memories from those that lived and thrived during the club’s heyday to make a visual scrapbook of this unique moment in time.
