The charity event Live 8 comprised concerts held in a variety of locations throughout the world in an attempt to draw attention to many of the problems concerning poverty. This multi-disc set features performances from many of the different venues. Among the many performers featured over the course of this release are Paul McCartney, U2, REM, Madonna, Will Smith, Brian Wilson, Sting, and the reformed classic line-up of Pink Floyd who deliver five of their classic songs ("Speak to Me," "Breathe," "Money," "Wish You Were Here," and "Comfortably Numb.")
