Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Although Paul Potter (Hobart Henley) is working his way through college, his status on the Yale football team gets him in with the society crowd. He becomes infatuated with married fashion plate Muriel Evers (Maude George) and neglects Sylvia Castle, his fiancee who he knew from back home (Jane Novak). Sylvia finally breaks the engagement, and when her father is ruined in the stock market, she has to make her own living. Meanwhile, Potter's affair with Muriel has resulted in a divorce, so he marries her. After a few false starts, Sylvia decides to go on the stage and meets leading man Henry Leamington (Hobart Bosworth), who is a notorious drunk. But Leamington helps her get ahead as an actress, and Sylvia helps him battle the bottle. Potter discovers that Muriel is no more faithful to him than she was to her last husband, and he searches out Sylvia. This causes a rift between her and Leamington, and when Muriel dies and Potter proposes, the old actor goes to his dressing room and starts drinking. But Sylvia turns down Potter and goes to Leamington. After their next performance, they are married. This picture, based on the novel by Joseph Medill Paterson, was filmed again in 1919.
