Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Justina Howland (Ann Pennington) is in line to inherit a fortune, and her Mexican guardian (Fraunie Fraunholz) plans to have her marry his son so he can control the money. Justina isn't having any of that, however, and she makes a dash for the border. She is captured by a group of U.S. troops who happen to come from her home state of Massachusetts, and she gets friendly with the lieutenant (Owen Moore, who at the time was married to Mary Pickford, then a major star for the studio responsible for this film). She dances for the troops (Pennington had gained fame as a Follies dancer), and the boys raise enough cash to send her home to Lowell. Eventually the lieutenant makes his way up there, too, and they renew their acquaintance. The guardian enters the picture once again, but to evade him, Justina disguises herself as a boy scout. In the end, she marries her lieutenant, thus keeping the dreaded guardian and his son at bay.
