Synopsis by Mark Deming
Linkin Park are five friends from Southern California who pooled their musical influences -- hip-hop, electronica, and hard rock -- and cooked up a sound that was at once melodic and physically powerful. The band's first album, Hybrid Theory, broke out of the metal underground to become one of the biggest hits of 2001, selling over eight million copies. Linkin Park: Unauthorized is a documentary which examines the band's background, influences, and rise to fame. Due to licensing restrictions, Linkin Park: Unauthorized features no music or performances by Linkin Park.
