This documentary looks at the ongoing crisis in the Southeast Asian country formerly known as Burma has been tightly ruled by a military junta (which prefers to call it Myanmar), since shortly after World War Two. Part of the region also contains some of the best opium-poppy growing country in the world, and is included in the so-called "Golden Triangle." The U.S., which has been known to overlook the abuses of non-communist dictatorships around the world in the service of its perceived national interests, has supplied the generals with airplanes and herbicides to be used in the service of the U.S.'s "war against drugs." However, the generals have used these gifts as weapons in their war against their own population, which is caught between the gangsters of the opium trade and the military dictators (who are not always separate people) in their own quest for freedom. Untold thousands have died in this little-reported struggle.
