Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Jack Holt, who had played a minor role in the 1915 Universal serial The Broken Coin, was elevated to stardom opposite Marie Walcamp in Liberty, a Daughter of the USA, released by the company in no less than 20 chapters. The heir to a vast Mexican hacienda, Liberty, according to her father's will, was not to marry until she reached the age of 21 or unless two guardians appointed by him agreed unequivocally to give their consent. Unfortunately, one of the guardians, Major Winston (Neal Hart), was gambling with money belonging to the estate and the other, José Leon (L.M. Wells), had given his soul to a gang of revolutionaries headed by Pancho Lopez. Enter Captain Rutledge (Holt), a Texas Ranger, who not only falls in love with Liberty but also guides her safely through 20 chapters filled with blackmail, betrayal, forced marriages, and sundry other typical serial themes.
