Review by Dacia Blodgett-Williams

Moving concert footage from the world premiere of de Azevedo's oratorio on the last days of Christ's life. The third part in a series, de Azevedo skips from the birth of Christ Gloria: The Life of Christ, Part I to the Savior's last days in Gethsemane, the Last Supper and on the cross. As before, his wife Peggy gleaned the lyrics straight out of the King James Bible with very little editing for ease of singing. The couple's Millennium Choir provides the choral backdrop for tenor George Dyer as Jesus and soprano Emily Gibbons Castleton as Mary Magdelene. Greg Pearson provided Peter's voice. Violinist Jenny Oaks Baker provides the aching strains of the violin solos. The oratorio was premiered Spetember 4, 2000 at the Sherover Theater, Jerusalem, Israel. The Jersualem Symphony Orchestra also performed during the premiere. As can be expected from the talented de Azevedos, this is an excellent composition and the video is nicely produced by the capable Peggy and Randy Mellor.
