Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
Asterix is a beloved French-language cartoon hero, a "barbarian" who keeps Gaul free from Roman domination during classical times. Asterix has been compared to Popeye in the U.S. both in terms of character-type and popularity. In this animated feature, he augments his abilities with potions given to him by a Druid priest while attempting to perform 12 feats imposed upon him by Julius Caesar as the price for Gallic independence.
