This fourth documentary in a series that began in 1975 continues to look at the lives of three principle women who work and live in Wittstock, a town not far from Berlin (in the former East Germany). The series will continue, in fact, well into the '90s. About 2,000 women work in the textile factory in Wittstock, an unusual work force considering that most factories of any sort are predominantly or solely male in orientation. The effect of their work on their lives and the town itself is explored, especially in light of the changes that have happened since Volker Koepp started making these documentaries. Koepp himself comments on the changes and on the lives of the three women (Stupsi, Edith, and Renate).
