A classroom recitation of Joyce Kilmer's poem Trees has Beaver (Jerry Mathers) waxing rhapsodic over the tree that his dad Ward (Hugh Beaumont) planted as a birthday present back at the Cleavers' old house. Nostalgia begets concern when Beaver concludes that his tree is currently not getting the care and attention that it deserves. Thus it is that Beav and Larry (Rusty Stevens) uproot the tree and take it with them -- which action causes Beaver's mom June (Barbara Billingsley) to lose her celebrated cool.
