Synopsis by Michael Hastings
In 2001, the Montreal jazz collective Iks traveled to Africa to collaborate with a wide variety of Senegalese musicians, picking up on the unique styles, sounds, and rhythms percolating in the country. Their efforts were recorded both on CD and in this ethno-musical documentary (also known as The Sand Diaries), shown at various French-Canadian film festivals in 2002.
