Synopsis by Hal Erickson

No relation to the 1973 Israeli film Last Winter, the French Last Winters (Les Derniers Hiver) was the first cinematic effort of director Jean-Charles Tachella. Like his subsequent Cousin, Cousine, Last Winters is a seriocomic tale of an enduring relationship. The protagonists are an elderly man and woman, longtime sweethearts. The story covers the various changes, both subtle and sweeping, in the couple's lives during their final years together. Both Last Winters and the followup short subject Une Belle Journee enabled Tacchella to finance his more ambitious projects of the 1970s and 1980s.
