Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
Author and learning disability expert Richard Lavoie takes advantage of this teaching opportunity to provide parents, classroom teachers, and others with helpful information about the painful self-esteem and social problems that children who learn differently or more slowly than others must face in school each day. Special tips are provided in this PBS video for helping these children experience success both at school and at home. Lavoie has spoken to groups in 49 states about learning disabilities, obtained three Special Education degrees, and is personally familiar with the subject as he has raised a learning disabled son and written a book on this subject, Integrating Learning Disabled Students. Last One Picked...First One Picked On: Learning Disabilities and Social Skills was produced in two versions, one for teachers and the other for parents.
