Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

As fighting raged during World War II, over 200 aircraft crashed in and around the islands of Palau. For more than sixty years, nearly half of the crew that flew these planes have been listed as Missing in Action (MIA). These brave soldiers gave their lives to protect their families back home, and in order to provide their families with a sense of closure Dr. Patrick Scannon and a team of volunteers search the waters and jungles of Palau in hopes of gleaning information that will lead to the identification of these American MIAs. Comprised of a group of islands in the western Pacific Ocean, Palau includes the militarily strategic island of Peleliu - the sight of three notable Pacific Theater skirmishes during World War II. While these battles would later be eclipsed by more famous clashes at Iwo Jima, Kwajelein and Okinawa, they nevertheless proved pivotal in helping Allied forced maintain the upper hand against the Axis Powers. During their expeditions, Scannon and his team discover a variety of aircrafts including B-24s, Hellcats, Corsairs, and Avengers, all the while search for the clues that will allow them to properly honor the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
