Synopsis by Dan Pavlides

The Italian government spent an estimated 3 million dollars and employed 10,000 people on a 52-reel film version of the Bible's Old Testament. This epic production encountered problems from U.S. censors for displays of nudity in the garden of Eden and the murder of Abel by his brother Cain. The film was made in 1920 and offered in the U.S. by National Non-Theatrical Motion Pictures for various religious groups. The U.S. premier was at the Columbia University School of Journalism.
