Jaime Humberto Hermosillo's The Passion of Berenice tells the tale of a widow who is still dealing with the physical and emotional scars left after the fire that killed her husband. She takes on the responsibility of caring for her godmother. Her repressed feelings are stirred when she begins to fall for her godmother's doctor.
