Jean-Pierre Ponnelle's revisits his own 1973 La Scala production of Gioacchino Rossini's La Cenerentola in order to create a unique film version of the performance in this release featuring bel canto vocalist Frederica von Stade at the height of her prowess. Conductor Claudio Abbado leads the Orchestra del Teatro Alla Scala, and Chorus Master Romano Gandolfi oversees the Doro del Teatro Alla Scalla.
