Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The English-language title of the South African Kom Saam Vanaand was Let's Get Together Tonight. One of the few productions filmed in the Afrikaans language to attain worldwide release, the film is an escapist musical built around a real-life concert in Johannesburg. The story concerns a talented young singer (Trudie van Zyl), whose career seems to be over before it begins when she is injured in a freak accident. The girl's brother appeals to the theatrical impresario (Pierre de Wiet, who also wrote and directed the film) to stage a benefit to pay for her operation. The last reels are devoted to that benefit, featuring several popular South African entertainers. The musical highlights are first-rate; the staged comedy routines, however, fail to elicit much laughter.
