Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

A childlike man, who has lived in a work-free and idyllic state for many years, is gradually shaken out of his obliviousness to the world around him by a series of experiences and encounters. In the story, the man has lived comfortably off of his sister's wages, and spends his time playing with children and attending local religious festivals. He reluctantly agrees to marry, but pays his new wife little attention. She leaves him when she becomes pregnant, and he takes a job with a truck driver which enables him to see life outside his native village. The new perspective the job gives him, and the shock given him by the suicide of a woman he admired, lead him to become a more attentive and responsible man.
