Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

Although he died in 1930 in a plane crash, the fame and accomplishments of Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne live on. This documentary traces Rockne's story, from his birth in Norway, his family's emigration to Chicago, his days as an All-American at Notre Dame, and his long and illustrious career as head coach at his alma mater. The program uses archival clips and photographs, and the personal recollections of family, friends, and sports colleagues to tell the story of this beloved football figure. Included is the touching story behind Rockne's famous "Win one for the Gipper" pep talk.
