Synopsis by Cammila Collar

In this 1965 series by Astro Boy creator Osamu Tezuka, the king of the jungle, a lion named Ceasar is killed by a human hunter after he attempts to unite all animal kind by liberating a herd of cattle in a nearby village. His widow, the lioness Snowene, gives birth to their son soon afterward and teaches young Kimba (Called Leo in the original Japanese version) the ideals of his father before her own death. Now the plucky cub must try to uphold the ideals of his parents while surviving without them in the jungle that is now his kingdom. Kimba: The White Lion is believed by many to have been the inspiration behind Disney's 1994 film, The Lion King.
