This program documents the incredible story of the closest anyone ever came to assassinating Hitler and overthrowing his government. The basis for the feature film Valkyrie, the historical plot was masterminded by German Colonel Claus von Stauffenburg with a group of other brave military and government insiders. Using Hitler's own contingency plan, the Resistance were able to orchestrate a plan in which they could kill Hitler, and convince the Reserve army to unknowingly fight for their cause. The Resistance knew that certain death awaited them if they were caught, but for these heroic men, the chance to change history was well worth the risk.
