Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

Studies show that in a number of American inner cities, the violence is just as prevalent as that in war zones in other parts of the world. This program investigates these American war zones. Many children, whose only crime is being born in unfortunate circumstances, become the hapless victims of gun wars and drug-related violence. Peter Jennings discusses that outrageous fact of life with Attorney General Janet Reno. The two consider ways to address and alleviate the problem, which claims the lives of so many innocent children each year. Archival film footage, film clips, and personal accounts are used to illustrate the story.
