This fourth installment in the Kekko-Kamen live-action movie series delivers more raunchy humor and over-the-top violence. The series Kekko Kamen began life as a manga and presented a kind of twistedly version of a Magical Girl; , the superheroine Kekko Kamen fightes her battles almost completely in the nude, save an everpresent mask that conceals her lay identity. The original manga opened in a dystopian high school, with the eponymous character rescuing a young girl from the abusive administration. Kekko Kamen Surprise, one of numerous animated adaptations of the manga, repeats the basic formula with slight variations in the story, the most noteworthy of which are several rock-n-roll musical numbers performed by the title character. In Kekko Kamen Surprise, Kekko journeys to a musical academy called "Mangriffon," concealed on a secret island, where she must once again save Mayumi from the hellish pitfalls of a tyrannous classroom.
