Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Bengali filmmaker Debaki Bose directs this meditation on art and the artist, adapted from a novel by Tarashankar Bannerjee. The film centers on railway worker Nitai (Robin Majumdar), who slowly becomes famous in his village for being a gifted poet and performer in the kabigan. One of his admirers is the beautiful, though married, Thakurjhee (Anubha Gupta) who, bored with the demands of married life, utterly falls for him. Hoping to avoid ugly rumors, Nitai leaves town and joins a group of itinerate Jhumur singers and artists. The troupe includes a prostitute crippled from venereal disease who starts to fancy Nitai and his talent. When she succumbs to her illness, the grief stricken Nitai returns to his home village only to find that Thakurjhee is dead as well.
