Katerina (Zora Rozsypalova) has the firm intention of having a grandchild. She has three daughters, and in order to fulfill her intentions, she works very hard to see them get married and stay married. Events conspire against her, as the oldest leaves her husband, the second's husband is arrested on his wedding night, and the third daughter is unmarried and seems determined to remain that way. However, after a series of family crises, the youngest daughter shows up pregnant after a short absence. Though unmarried, she is the one who will give her mother a grandchild.
