Terpinko (Istvan Bujtor) is an uneducated but attractive young man unsatisfied with life on his family's farm. He runs away to stay with his sister in the city and lands a job in a factory. There, he womanizes until he marries a young girl, only to immediately annul the marriage. Meanwhile, Eva (Zsuzsa Balogh) is a young, provincial woman who also moves to the city where she finds employment. Before long, she is married and becomes a scientist. Terpinko winds up working for her and is relentless in his romantic pursuit of her. Terpinko literally chases the disinterested Eva with such a passion that he causes a nearly fatal accident.
